First Nations leaders from B.C. and Alberta in meetings with National Energy Board since late November

Here’s a $7.4 billion question: Is the National Energy Board holding meaningful consultation with Indigenous people over the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion?

That was the requirement laid down by the Federal Court of Appeal in August when it suspended work on the project, after the government bought the multi-billion dollar pipeline from Kinder Morgan in May.

Part of that requirement is being addressed this week in Nanaimo, B.C., with the conclusion of the NEB’s reconsideration hearings.
